Sunrise Movement Houston

Hello!

We are Sunrise Houston! Our issues focus on Flooding, Stopping Highway Expansions, Helping Communities in Cancer Clusters, and Public Education and Outreach! The way this city was constructed, especially with how highways like I-10 and I-45 cut through our city, led to a design that made people feel alone and isolated from one another. We're extremely passionate about building communities and crafting the space for people to come in and meet others and share ideas so that we have the base to push the city in what matters to the people and not what all these developers and oil companies want it to be. And we're getting there! There's a lot of passionate people in our hub and our partner organizations who are doing a lot of good work. A lot of new members don't know a lot about how our city works, but we're all determined to learn and see at the political and bureaucratic levels how we can bring meaningful change in the fastest way we can!
